“Jason it's your turn.”

I let out a deep sigh. I looked around at all my classmates who were now staring at me. Reluctantly I dragged myself out of my seat and walked up to the front of the class. I wanted to be anywhere except here right now. Maybe if I act really sick I'll be able to get out of this. I snuck a glance at my teacher and his stern look made me think otherwise.

“Jason, are you ready?” He said his his unusual nasally voice.

I was thinking about any excuse I could to leave, but I'm already here, and telling the whole class I didn't do anything would be so embarrassing. The thought of it caused me physical pain. I'll just have to get it done. I mustered all my courage, and said.

“Some guy was walking somewhere.”

The classroom was silent. The silence was so loud. So I just went on.

“Wow, so cool right?!  Is probably what you're thinking. And if you're not. Then you're just wrong.” I heard a few whispers from my class.

What was I saying? I felt so embarrassed, I wanted to hide. I was just trying anything at this point.

“Anyways this guy was going places. Like far, all the way to the store to get some milk. But just like my dad he never came back.”

I heard a few giggles from the class after that one.

“What happened is that he was like, um. Kidnapped! Or should say dadnapped! Yeah, by a bunch of, like a clan of, an evil organization of bad guys! So it was up to his kids, and their trusty German shepherd to save him.”

I could see some of my classmates laugh and shake their heads as I fumbled with my words. I could feel the edges of my lips start to twitch.

“So anyways, his two sons and their dog had to find the bad guy's secret hideout. He looked long and far, until their dog caught the scent of their dad and followed it back to their lair. But it was heavily guarded, and they decided to use their dog as a distraction. And because they had a fearsome pitbull the guards wer-” I stopped as I saw my friend in the back row raise his hand. I made eye contact with him, and by the look in his eye I knew he was up to no good.

“Yes, Kyle?” I asked

“I thought you said their dog was a German shepherd.”

I was just thinking about how much I hate him, when the whole class started laughing. I felt a smile stretch across my face as well. I started to ease up as well.

“Yeah exactly, the guards were expecting a German shepherd as well. Lucky for them the older son did like VFX makeup and stuff. So they disguised their dog as a pit bull.”

I got some more laughs from the class, I glanced at my teacher to see him shaking his head to himself.

“So yeah, the dog started barking and got all the guards to chase it. Leaving the entrance to their base open. Just when they thought they were going to save him. His jail was like, in a vault. So they needed to break it open, so they took one of those.”

I paused while trying to think of a device to open a vault. One of my classmates helped me out.

“Plasma cutter?” They chipped in.

“Yeah!” I wasn't sure if that was even a real thing but I went with it.

"So yeah they cut a hole in the safe and saved their dad.”

My friend raised his hand again.

“Yes? Another question?” I asked.

“Yeah, was your dad in the safe too?”

I started laughing with the class now.

“Yeah and he had like a lifetime supply of milk with him.”

After the class settled down a bit. I took a bow.

“Thanks for listening to my story, you've been a great audience.”

I heard my teachers voice call out from his desk

“You know, if you didn't do the project you could have just said so.” He said it with a tired tone of voice.

Me and the class shared a laugh after hearing that.
