“Wow, he really did a number on this place.”

I looked at the charred remains of the town in front of me. The sky was filled with eerie smog from the collapsed buildings still alive with embers and smoke. The smell was god awful. It was hard to focus on anything else, it was overwhelming. I felt like I was choking, the smell seemed to fill my lungs and encase me. I unfortunately know this smell all too well, the smell of humans that have been reduced to cinders.

"Crack”

I felt something break underneath my boot, lifting my foot I saw that I stepped on what remained of someone's arm. It was burnt to the point where it was hard to distinguish it from the charred wood. The hand was reaching out to the well in the middle of the town square. Other corpses lay near the well.

“Looks like other people had the same idea buddy.” I said to the corpse beneath me. I walked to the well and looked into it. A smile began to creep across my face.

“Heh, this guy was a psycho.”

The well must have been filled with dirt, nothing but mud remained. He must have wanted these people to suffer, I wonder what they did to make him so mad. Hehe now I’m starting to get interested, I didn't want to come at first but I could end up having fun. I made my way through the maze of corpses and debris, looking for a lead. I didn't look long before I saw him. He was on his knees atop a pile of debris looking into the sky. Does this guy think he's the main character or something? I sighed. I was looking forward to having someone to track down. But it seems like I'll be back home soon. I walked a little closer and got a good look at him, his clothes were burned, but surprisingly in one piece. Black ashes were covering him, he had so much in his hair I couldn't tell what color it was. He was well built and muscular, and had an attractive face as well. I'm jealous, I wish I was that handsome, I joked to myself. He had black rings under his eyes from exhaustion or something like that. His face seemed to lack any emotion, even though I walked within a few feet of him he didn't even look at me. He looked pretty awful honestly. Killing him seems too easy. I'll mess with him a bit.

“Hey, I'm here to put out the fire but it seems like i was a little too late haha.” He slowly looked at me, but didn't say anything. I could feel my lip twitch slightly, this fuckers ignoring me, I came all the way here and he's not even going to acknowledge me. I'm starting to get a little pissed off.

“Okay I'll get to the point I'm here to see what happened, and deal with whoever caused it. That's you right? Why didn't you leave after you burned this place down. Hello!” I said while waving my hand in his face.

Still no response. Now that I think of it, it was pretty impressive that he managed to burn this whole place down, and not let anyone survive. It's hard to imagine this defeated looking figure in front of me did it. I'm so frustrated, I was starting to get excited, all for this underwhelming scene.

“Okay, I give up, just tell me why you did it at least, what did these people do to you. I hope it's a good story.”

His glassy eyes looked up and met mine.

“They didn't do anything. They did absolutely nothing.” He croaked out in a voice that was so weary it was hard to hear him.

My disappointment is immeasurable, my day is ruined.

"I came all the way here for this!" I said while gesturing to all of him.

I'll just get it over with. People always make some kind of fun sounds when they die. I picked him up by his shirt collar and looked him in the eyes, they were vacant and empty. I brought my hand back and slammed it into his face. He went flying and landed on some rubble.

CRACK!

The burned wood couldn't hold his weight and collapsed underneath him. I walked through it and lifted him out of the debris. Still no expression, just vacant eyes. I'll make him beg for his life, they always do at the end. I slammed my fist straight into his nose, I could feel it bend and crack under my hand. He didn't even flinch. But blood came pouring from his broken nose. To my astonishment his eyes left mine, they looked up to the sky again,  as if he was bored.

“You're pretty tough eh?”

I hit him in the face several more times, it started to swell up and bruise, but he didn't even cry, or try to escape. He just closed his eyes slowly and let out a gentle sigh as if he was content with his imminent death. This guy can't even die in a fun way, I was beyond frustrated now. I dropped him on the ground and took a seat on a pile of bricks.

“Why the fuck did they send me to kill you, your already dead. Not even fun to beat up, just feels like I'm beating a lifeless corpse.”

I took a deep sigh, this was such a waste of my time, I looked down at the guy in front of me, he made no attempts to get up.

"Tell me how it felt killing them? Good?”

He actually responded, much to my surprise.

“Yeah, I remember laughing a lot.”

A smile began to form across my face.

“Yeah, the best feeling in the world is using your own power to assert dominance. I love beating others into submission. Did you feel satisfied afterwards?”

His glassy eyes looked up to me before he spoke.

“No, it wasn't enough, the pain won't go away.”

I started to feel a little nostalgic.

“It never is enough, you always think this next one will be the last, but hey, look at me. Haha. You do realize you're an evil person for doing this right.”

I saw an expression on him for the first time, a look of disgust and anger.

“They are the evil ones, I did nothing wrong, it's all their fault.”

I started laughing out loud. He is blatantly ignoring the fact that what he did was probably several times worse than what they did. He's a terrible person who must have taken out all his anger and problems onto other people. He enjoys the act of murder, he even filled the well with mud to send them into despair as they were dying. After all that he still manages to feel like he is the victim.

He is awful, selfish, and delusional. He was perfect. I'm starting to like him.

“Get up, and come with me, you have nothing to live for anyways. I'll show you some fun tricks on how to get fleeting relief from your own pain with the suffering of others.”

He silently got up and stared at me.

“Let's go then.” I said as I stood up.

“I can't wait to see what kind of damage you can do to the world with some proper training.”
